Forgiveness and Joy
Today as I reflected on the Gospel reading, I prayed for the grace to be more forgiving. I truly find greater joy and deeper peace when I have forgiven. Have you ever wondered how much energy it takes to be angry, Letting go of past hurts take less energy and it lightens the heart. The hurt may never be forgotten but it is not in my heart to cripple me and prevent me from loving and buiding stronger relationships. When I remember past hurts and I can still relate with the one who has hurt me, I know that I have forgiven. I remember with love in my heart calling me forth to embrace that person with love and kindness rather than revenge. Then I feel truly free. True forgiveness is not a matter of fogetting the past but remembering the past with a different attitude to respond positively, embracing life. What do you think?
